Dorothy Gale (OZ)

Guess who's decided to return to the land of OZ!!!   

For those who don't know, I've missed this story terribly. I felt like I set this story down just as it was going somewhere, and now, I'm finally back to see what I can actually make of this story.  


My plan is to use the original illustrations and book for inspiration for my adaptation to attempt to keep the magic in tact out of personal respect for the author behind the book. I don't intend on jacking up the story or anything, but I might be making slight changes to the story since I never usually enjoy just making a straight adaptation of something. 


First, I had to start with Dorothy's design. It's not that I don't like the original design she had a while back (and I am definitely still incorporating aspects from her old design into this new one), but I just felt like my style has changed, so I thought that Dorothy had to change as well. 

I've officially decided to keep her around the age she is in the original tale since I think she looks cuter and fits with her surroundings. 

Having said all of that, I of course decided to keep her in her iconic blue and white plaid dress (I didn't add the pattern to the drawing to avoid ruining the picture).

I also, after several designs and ideas, I think I've finally designed the sliver slippers! It's taken forever, but I really like the elf-like/fantasy-like style of the shoe and the little red jewels along the shoe . The red jewels were me cheating the ruby slippers aspect since I personally love ruby slippers, but sadly, they're copyright of Warner Bros and heavily guarded.... which forced me to improvise and find a loophole.
