Description

"Now that no one else was at home, Cinderella went to her mother's grave beneath the hazel tree, and cried out:

Shake and quiver, little tree,
Throw gold and silver down to me.

Then the bird threw a gold and silver dress down to her, and slippers embroidered with silk and silver. She quickly put on the dress and went to the festival." (Cinderella, Brothers Grimm)

Yes, its true. I have decided to go back to Cinderella, but I've decided to take the story in a different direction. ;) (Wink)

I have recently grown fascinated by the Brothers Grimm's retelling of the story.

Instead of a Fairy Godmother, a ball, and a glass slippers, this version has a hazel tree, a 3 night festival, and slippers of pure gold.

I really like the dark vibe that the Grimm version has, so I've decided that I might use it as inspiration for my adaptation.

It also plays out in a more interesting way in my opinion.

This picture above is Ella's reaction the sudden change from a ragged frock to a magnificent ball gown fit for a princess. As you can see she's rather surprised. Giggle

One thing I loved the idea of is that since her dresses are given to her by a hazel tree, I thought it would be really neat to show that in the dress's design. The bodice is compromised of patterns of gold twigs and leaves, and spirals to bring it into a more elegant light. The bottom of the dress will also have designs of twigs and leaves along it, as well as the gold slippers! La la la la

As of now, my plan is that she will have two ball gowns. The first one she wears on the first and second nights of the ball, but then she gets an even more magnificent gown on the third night. Both have details inspired by the hazel tree of course. :) (Smile)

So, what do ya'll think? Do you like the changes I've made to my Cinderella adaptation? Do you like Ella's ball gown's design? If you read the Grimm's version, did you like it?

It's again, in a darker tone.
